Underdog is a fantasy sports betting app with a fun and welcoming image in an industry that often lacks imagination. In my work at UD Fantasy the key challenge is to display data and complex gaming options in simple and enjoyable ways.

The Application

Project 1 - Id Verification

Points of Friction

In order to get a payout from the app, the user must complete an ID verification flow. We were losing users because the verification process was confusing and tedious.

I created wireframes for a flow that has a fun and straightforward approach compared to the previous static design. We saw an increase in users finishing the ID verification process after the new design was live on the app.

Project 2 - Incubator

Defining the Brand

UD partners with several influencers in the sports betting space. This initiative is known as the "incubator" program. I was tasked with creating an elegant space to exhibit our partners on the website. You can see a prototype for the design below.

Pick’em Insurance

Launched in 2022, we introduced an alternate version of playing our popular Pick'em offering. This was a game where the user can still win even if they don’t hit every bet. The Pick’em Insurance idea was that it could be an “add-on” to your bet. Much like insuring an airline ticket. This subtle approach to a complex concept has been immensely popular since its release.

Conclusion

Every application brings its own set of challenges. Underdog is a unique and exciting brand that takes an innovative approach to the experience of fantasy sports gaming. It is a great company to work for and one who's future I will always be invested in.
